AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Welcome to Coastal Fusion Dance Company! We are looking for passionate and dedicated dancers to join our pre-professional company. If you are ready to take your dance skills to the next level, we invite you to audition for our upcoming season. This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your talent and be a part of our dynamic dance family.

To be eligible to audition, dancers must meet the following criteria:
Age Requirement
​
For the main program dancers must be between 14 and 18 years old at the time of audition ( if a dancer is not quite 14 years old yet, but has a birthday before the new year, that is allowed).
​
For the hiphop program we will allow people from the age of 13-18 years old at the time of the audition. (if a dancer is not quite 13 years old yet, but will be Turing 13 before the new year, that is allowed).
​
Younger ages may be accepted into the hiphop team at the discretion of the directors, (as we want to have a big hiphop group).
Training Requirements
​
You must meet one of the following training backgrounds:
​
Option 1:
Currently dancing on their local competitive team,
AND enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours of technique classes per week (including Ballet, PBT, and or Jazz Technique).
​
OR
​
Option 2:
Not currently on a team,
BUT has a background of at least 5 years of competitive dance experience,
AND currently take a minimum of 3 hours of technique classes per week (including Ballet, PBT, and or Jazz Technique).
Graduated students will have different technique class requirements depending on the dancer (1-3 classes per week).

HipHop Requirements
​
Since the Hiphop group is a separate team, you do not require to have the same training requirements.
​
Option 1:
Currently dancing on their local Competitive team,
AND enrolled in Hiphop classes (preferably with 3 years of experience in this discipline).
​
Option 2:
Not currently on a team,
But has a background of at least 5 years of competitive experience.

AUDITION TIPS
Preparing for an audition can be nerve-wracking, but we are here to support you every step of the way. Remember to arrive early, be confident, and most importantly, let your passion for dance shine through. Our team is excited to see your unique artistry and dedication to the craft.
*RESULT NOTIFICATIONS*

All dancers will be personally emailed the evening of or the day following the audition to let them know whether or not they’ve been accepted.

If you are accepted, please reply as soon as possible to confirm your spot. When confirming please send in a headshot or dance picture (if you don't have either, no rush take your time).

If you are not selected this year, don’t be discouraged — there is always next year, and we encourage you to keep dancing and growing no matter what.

If you have chosen to audition for the full program and after the fact the judges/directors feel that you would be better suited for just the hiphop company, we may offer you a spot on that team instead. You will then have the opportunity to accept or decline our offer.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Audition Date: June 21st, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Arrival Time: Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in.

What to Expect:

Lyrical Combo:
This combo will be taught via video prior to the audition. Make sure to learn it ahead of time and come prepared!

Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Technique:
These styles will be taught in person during the audition. This allows us to see how well you pick up choreography on the spot.

Improv Section:
​ The improve section will take place midway through the audition and will be to our choice of genres and music.
​

Hip-Hop Only Auditions:
If you are only auditioning for the hip-hop portion, you may leave once that section of the audition is completed.

Punctuality is key – late arrivals may not be allowed to audition.
​

Be ready to showcase your versatility, personality, and ability to pick up choreo quickly.
